Moved to Boulder, CO

Back in March I picked up the family and moved to the Boulder, CO area and this is now the Organic Element HQ.  I have to tell you, I could not be happier with the move and I recommend this area (Denver/Boulder) to anyone looking for something new in their career, particularly if you are a software developer.  The funny thing is, I have actually met more people here from various Open Source projects and users of various OS projects I have worked on in the last 3 months than in the last 6 years combined.  If you are in the Boulder area and want to get together and talk about Java, Open Source, or Apache projects please let me know.  I need every excuse I can find to get out of my house and take a break from working once in a while.

This is kind of a personal update, but it surprised me to learn that
some people I know from Open Source projects and other online pursuits
were unaware that I moved 1900 miles from Jacksonville, FL to Boulder,
CO.  I guess it makes sense, its not like my email, GTalk or Skype address
changed.  ;-)

What is Organic Element?

I get this a lot and usually I don’t do a very good job of properly describing what Organic Element really is. I suppose this is largely because I haven’t had a good answer since forming the company in the Summer of 2006. The truth is, I originally started this company because I wanted a new and fresh avenue to explore opportunities without being chained to the large and structured coporate clients that I have been doing most of my work for with my original company, Custine Technology Group. The mere sound of that name makes me cringe and I have come to associate it with writing proposals, analysis papers, and other misc bullshit work that has very little in the way of actual innovation and technical challenge. So I decided to close down that part of my life and move on and get back to designing and writing actual software and doing things that make a difference.

So that is what Organic Element is… Its me. Its me, starting over and doing the thing that comes natural to me. What comes natural to me? I’ll get to that soon enough ;-)
